Entry Requirement for Fulldome Short Film Competition

The 2nd International Festival of Scientific Visualization (IFSV) will be hold from Aug.10 to Oct.2 (pre-event was hold in 2009 and 1st one in 2010), which purpose is to introduce high quality movies widely and provide an opportunity to see them to many citizens.
This year, the 2nd IFSV committee announces to hold fulldome short film competition for the purpose to encourage the creators who can make fulldome footage related to scientific visualization.
The committee hopes that your innovated productions will be entered to the competition.

Entry deadline

  • The application must arrive no later than July 29, 2011 (17:00)

Theme

  • Science & Art

Application rule

  • A fulldome production only
  • Either Group production or personal production
  • Any production technique is allowed
  • 5 minutes length at maximum
  • Non published production at planetarium or elsewhere

Examination procedure

  • A board of examiners will evaluate by criteria: technical advancement, scientific expression, artistic, originality and potential

  • First award: 1 work (a certificate, a prize, award money 100,000 Yen)
  • Second award: 1 work (a certificate)
  • Encouragement award: 1 work (a certificate)
  • Special audience award: 1 work (a certificate)

Documents examination

  • The documents of entry productions will be examined in advance at the secretariat before the main examination.

Main examination, the screening, commendation

  • Main examination, the screening and commendation will be hold on Sept. 26, 2011 at Dome Festival
  • Screening; 9:00-10:00, commendation in the afternoon

Entry Requirements

  • The registration form must be sent with the dome master data as below address.
  • The dome master data format:
    2048 x 2048 or less image field
    Format; TIFF, PNG or JPG (consecutive series)
    Sound; 2ch 48KHz/16bit WAV file
    *Format may be changed
  • Data contribution : Data must be sent on HDD connected by USB
  • The data carriers will be returned to the entrants after the screening.

Instructions

  • The committee guarantees never use the participants’ works other than a purpose of the festival.
  • The award winners may permit the committee to use the works in the public information for the purpose of advertising etc.

  • The committee never use the personal information acquired other than examination procedure.
    However, the award winning productions will be announced to public with the name of award winners and their position.

Agreement

  • The participants are considered to accept all the competition rules by entering their respective productions.
